IT IS POSSIBLE

Dear Creative,
After graduating with a degree in business, it was time for me to do my own thing so I started applying to art schools. I applied for FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology), as well as SVA in the city (School of visual arts) and thanks to a "Further education day" I went to at the school I was attending at the time, I spoke to reps from a college in California called, The Art Institute.
I instantly fell in love with everything they offered & the building itself.
SVA was ranked one of top best art schools in New York which was tough to get into. So, time passed and I was wait-listed at FIT, then later declined. I was a little sad about it for a while but I still had hope for SVA, as well as a dream of moving to Cali to hopefully, one day attend my dream school.
Later on, I received an acceptance letter from SVA. I was ecstatic that I'd actually gotten in but...I had no choice but to defer because my father thought it to be too expensive for me to attend (SVA is private).
There was also no way I was making it to California to attend The Art Institute, having an enmeshed family and a father who wouldn't help me pay, so my dream of going to art school had died.
I shied away from art for a bit until I got into painting and started learning it myself. Then as time continued to go by, I realized that I could teach myself the techniques I was interested in, so I did and my art skill increased. I later realized—with some help and devine encouragement from my sisters, that yes I wanted to go to art school, I wanted to move to California but I'm gifted and my art is amazing and there's a realm of possibilities for me!
Creative, don't let the obstacles standing in your way win. Don't let the words or control of narcissists keep you from yourself. Don't let fear, anxiety, hesitation, whatever may be holding you back, have the advantage. Yes there may be things needed for you to get to a certain place but STARTING is what's important. If it wasn't for me just doing and learning to paint on my own, I wouldn't have
1.) Started my healing journey
2.) Created the book cover for my first poetry book that kickstarted my writing career.
Do what you can where you are until you're at a place to do so much more. You will get there.
